Eureka is a suburb of South Western Victoria, Victoria and is about 100 kms west-northwest of VIC's capital city of Melbourne. In the 2011 Australian census the population of Eureka was 629 when there were 318 Females and 311 Males living there. The median age for people living in Eureka was 35. Eureka is a small eastern suburb of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Eureka takes its name from the Eureka Lead the gold mining lead of the Eureka Mining Company and is most notable as the site of the historic event of the Eureka Rebellion and the flag flown by the rebels known as the Eureka Flag both of which have national significance to Australia.
